RIDE'EM COWBOY
Joel T. Bailey

I had always dreamed
Of riding in a rodeo
So I signed myself up
To give bronc riding a go

They said I had drawn
The baddest that was there
So when I climbed on
I said a little prayer

I wanted to get off and run
But I saw it was to late
For they were already
Starting to open the gate

The last sound I heard
Was the roar of the crowd
And the words ride'em cowboy
Being shouted real loud

That bronc made two jumps
Then I went up in the air
I reached for the saddle
But it was no longer there

The going up was easy
As was the coming down
But that sudden stop hurt
When I hit the ground

I woke up the next morning
In a hospital bed
With one leg in a cast
And a bandage on my head

I knew it could've been worse
Than the shape I was in
And I knew I didn't want to hear
Ride'em cowboy ever agin
