Cowboy Poetry and Western Verse

LIVING HIS DREAM
Joel T. Bailey

He wanted to be a cowboy
From the time he could walk
He'd sit in the bunkhouse
And listen to the cowboys talk

He listened and he watched
And learned the cowboy way
He belived if he tried his best
He'd be a top hand someday

The work was hard and rough
From daylight to set of sun
But learning to be a cowboy
To him was always fun

He learned what it meant
To ride for the brand
He knew this would be his life
For as long as he could stand

There wasn't anything else
That could give him so much joy
For he was living his dream
Of being a real cowboy
