Western Short Stories
Kerry Taylor

Kerry Taylor

Kerry Taylor Bio.

Descended from the first English settlers of this country with names in his family tree like Daniel Boone, George Washington, Davy Crockett, Robert E Lee, Col. Stephen F. Austin, Meriwether Lewis and John Chisum; Kerry Taylor has an abundance of true American DNA from which to draw historical perspective.

Born “out yonder,” somewhere west of Palo Duro Canyon, Texas on a ranch owned by Charles Goodnight, his Western heritage, (according to him) was branded on his hind quarters with a big TX, when he was two weeks old.

The years and his intrepid spirit have taken him far from Texas but have enhanced his romance with the “Cowboy Way” and particularly life as it once was on the open range. With him he carries what people now call “skill sets.” His require a large box, and only part of his time is spent as a wordsmith. Other crafts occupy his attention, but all reflect the hand of an artist.

All of nearly 200 works published reflect his astute understanding of life’s complexities, yet interpreted with simplistic cowboy wisdom. Readers of his novel, “Cactus Hill,” have worn the pages re-reading it and impatiently await the release of another historical, fact based Western narrative.

A man feels diminished realizing how small he appears under its vastness.

The cowboys and other hermits that stay “out yonder,” in-time succumb to the fever…the desert fever. I know the place and the fever, I was born there. Read the full story HERE>>
