There are those in this world who will go to great lengths to achieve their goals, no matter what the cost.

Beyond the Western

She was with her attendants in the dressing room. They were busy making last minute adjustments to the most beautiful wedding gown the city of St. Louis will have ever seen.

The bride’s name was Danielle. She was the daughter of a reputed mobster named Frankie Vassar. The groom was an illegal arms dealer from Miami who went by the single name of Steele.

The marriage was a sham. Set up by Danielle and her father to gain access to the lucrative turf of Steele’s successful arms dealing business.

Fifteen minutes before the ceremony was to begin, the real show began. As expected, Danielle received a text on her phone, supposedly from her fiancee. She took a quick look. Her eyes were glued to the images that came across the screen. It was apparent the message was not from Steele. It was about Steele.

With each swipe, image after image of her soon to be husband in compromising positions with several young girls came across her screen.

It was quite obvious the young girls were under age.

The unsigned message accompanying the images was short and to the point. “Thought you might want to know what you’re about to get yourself into.”

Danielle played her part well. Feigning shock, she covered her mouth with her hand as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing, dropped the phone and ran from the room. Her father, who was positioned in the room with his brother, Dominique, picked up the phone and looked at the message. In a voice loud enough for all to hear, he commented. “This is absolutely horrible. I can’t believe this.”

“What are you talking about, Frankie?” Asked, Dominique.

“I’m talking about Steele. Just look at this.” He handed the phone to his brother.

Dominique took a quick look. “You go take care of your daughter. I’ll deal with this.”

The setup was working as planned. Dominique also left the room, setting the phone down where those, curious enough to find out what all the drama was about, would see the images and the message.

Frankie met up with his daughter in a private room and reassured her. “All looks good. Things are moving along just as we planned.”

The Vassar’s went forward with the ceremony as planned. It was the event of the year. At the lavish party that followed, Frankie and Steele conducted business on the side. Frankie tried to strong-arm Steele into a deal that gave his daughter an equal share of his arms dealing business. Frankie would be the one to run it for her. Steele refused to make the deal.

As the evening progressed, the chief of police received an untraceable text. It was the same one Danielle had received earlier. The doctored images of Steele had been sent to him along with other incriminating evidence.

It was all turned over to police Investigators who looked into the situation. They found enough evidence to file charges. One week after the wedding, Steele was arrested on multiple counts of sexual misconduct with underage children.

Steele knew the evidence had been planted, but by whom he wasn’t sure. He trusted his lawyers would beat the trumped up charges and he would get to the bottom of it all. Things began to look bad for Steele when they couldn’t secure bail for him.

Little did he know, Frankie had set everything up perfectly. That included buying off his lawyers.

Steele wouldn’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Danielle would take full control of the arms business while Steele served time in Federal prison. Under the circumstances, Frankie and Family had no trouble getting the marriage annulled.

It was a major coup for the Vassar family business. They had successfully increased their holdings, diversified their business into the arms dealing trade and eliminated a competitor all in one fell swoop.

It was all too easy.
